Household Composting

The Town of Lexington has expanded the free curbside composting program to include 4,000 households, so if you have not yet signed up, please do so today! Composting is a very easy and effective way to reduce waste, pollution and carbon emissions while replenishing much needed nutrient rich soil to our land. Just ask your student how easy it is and how composting has drastically reduced the amount of trash produced at school during lunchtime. Click here to enroll today…and let’s fill the remaining slots with Clarke families!

Black Earth’s commercial composting facility takes many things that aren’t appropriate for a backyard compost bin (meat, bones, dairy, cooked foods, pizza boxes, and certain types of compostable "plastics”).

Trash in Lexington is incinerated, causing air pollution and toxic byproducts. Composting recycles nutrients back to the soil for use by local farmers and gardeners, and ultimately into the produce you eat. And customers get a bag of free compost in the spring! Help the environment and Clarke today!
